Emtec Energy was selected by Scottish Water Horizons to implement a crucial renewable energy project at the Gowan’s Terrace site in Perth, which includes a key water treatment works and an office building. The project involved installing 1,236 ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, designed to generate 0.53 GWh of renewable energy annually—equivalent to the energy needed to boil 371,000 kettles.
This solar installation is expected to cover 14.5% of the site’s electricity needs, significantly offsetting the energy consumption of the 24/7 operations and reducing the site’s carbon footprint by approximately 96 tonnes annually. The project supports Scottish Water’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2040 and is part of a broader initiative to expand solar power across their assets.
Emtec Energy managed the design, installation, and commissioning of the solar system, ensuring minimal disruption to the ongoing operations at the site. The project was executed with a focus on maximizing energy output while integrating seamlessly with the existing infrastructure.
Keliann Arthur, Project Manager at Scottish Water Horizons, highlighted the success of the project, stating, “We are delighted with the completion of this project in Perth, which is a significant addition to our growing portfolio of solar power schemes. Emtec Energy has delivered a solution that not only meets our energy needs but also supports our ambitious net-zero targets.”
This project at Gowan’s Terrace underscores Emtec Energy’s capability to deliver sustainable, large-scale energy solutions, contributing to both energy efficiency and environmental sustainability for Scottish Water.
We are delighted with the exceptional work delivered by Emtec Energy on our solar PV scheme at Gowans Terrace. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to quality have been outstanding. Thanks to their expertise, the project is now paving the way for significant energy savings and sustainability gains.
